Tablao Flamenco Cordobes: 55 Years of Art and Passion in the Heart of Barcelona

Right in the center of Barcelona, on Las Ramblas, Tablao Flamenco Cordobes has been a temple of authentic flamenco since its founding in 1970. Created by artists Luis Adame and Irene Alba, this space has become an essential reference in flamenco history—not only in Barcelona, but worldwide. This year, the Tablao celebrates its 55th anniversary with a special program that honors its legacy and reaffirms its commitment to flamenco culture.

Since its beginnings, Tablao Flamenco Cordobes has championed the highest artistic standards, attracting legendary figures such as Camarón de la Isla, Farruco, Tomatito, and Bambino. Thanks to its focus on authenticity, it has become the epicenter of flamenco in Barcelona, respected by both artists and fans alike.

In 2010, on the occasion of its 40th anniversary, the Tablao Flamenco Cordobes Foundation was created with the goal of preserving and promoting flamenco culture. This initiative has been key in driving projects and events that emphasize flamenco’s significance in the cultural scene.

A witness to historic Barcelona

Tablao Flamenco Cordobes is not just a tourist attraction; it is a living testament to the history of Barcelona. In the late 19th century, shows and café-theatres flourished along El Paralelo, Las Ramblas, and Nou de La Rambla, making the city a hub of performing arts. It was in these very venues that the legendary dancer Carmen Amaya dazzled the world. Today, Tablao Cordobes is the only venue that keeps that tradition alive, bringing the best current artists to its stage.

Many historic flamenco figures have performed at Tablao Flamenco Cordobes, such as Chocolate, Fernanda and Bernarda de Utrera. Today, it continues to feature top names in the flamenco world. Artists like Farru, Pastora Galván, Karime Amaya, Marco Flores, Jesús Fernández, and Pepe Torres are regulars in its lineup.

In addition, the Tablao is actively involved in Barcelona’s cultural life, participating in events such as Tast a La Rambla, the Roser festivities, and the Silver Mezquita Awards Gala—an honor that recognizes individuals and institutions for their contributions to flamenco.

55 years of history: An unforgettable celebration

The 55th anniversary of Tablao Flamenco Cordobes is a milestone being marked with a special program. This event not only celebrates its history, but also signals the beginning of a new era, led by Curro Sánchez, grandson of the founders. The recent opening of El Duende by Tablao Flamenco Cordobes reflects this evolution, blending flamenco tradition with innovation to attract new audiences.

With flamenco declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, the Tablao remains deeply committed to its preservation through initiatives such as the Tablao Flamenco Cordobes Foundation and the Professional Flamenco Gatherings.

The restaurant is separated from the performance area, ensuring no distractions. Guests can choose to enjoy the show with a drink or opt for a full Mediterranean cuisine buffet beforehand.

If you’re looking for a unique experience, Tablao Flamenco Cordobes invites you to immerse yourself in the passion and art of flamenco—a place where history, music, and duende come together to offer an unforgettable evening in the heart of Barcelona.
