One of the most awaited performances of the festival “Málaga
en Flamenco” took place the evening of Thursday, September
29th, at Málaga’s Centro de Cultura Provincial.
With his sweet voice and delivery that hark back to the old days
of fandango singers, it was inevitable that the young singer would
triumph in these parts, and the audience filled the venue, offering
its warmest applause. Estrella Morente, present for the occasion,
showed her enthusiasm with repeated “ole’s”.
The recital included pieces from the Huelva singer’s last
record “Calle Perdía”, in addition to classic
flamenco forms such as malagueñas, caña, polo, alegrías
and of course, his splendid fandangos de Huelva with the accompaniment
of guitarists Miguel Ángel Cortés and Daniel Méndez,
the palmas of ‘Bobote’ and ‘Eléctrico’
and the percussion of ‘Chico Fran’.
