Pure art and emotion. The crescent moon illuminated the concert that Festival Pirineos Sur yesterday offered to thousands of people who didn?t want to miss this event with the great Estrella Morente, and the enchanting young Silvia Pérez Cruz.
Two musical worlds that encounter each other and which kept the audience in almost sepulchral silence for more than three hours, only broken when bulerías took over the stage of Lanuza.
Everyone was anxious to see Estrella Morente who debuted here years ago accompanied by her father. “It was here I realized I wanted to make this my life” stated the singer and, possibly in tribute to the late Enrique Morente, she wore black for the first part of the concert. Her wonderful flamenco voice, accompanied by the guitars of Montoyita and Monty, interpreted a variety of deep flamenco themes in which her art, be it genetic or cultural, was beyond all question.
It was in the second part of the show when Estrella, dressed in white with a green shawl and imposing elegance, managed to open up and give everything while lightning bolts in the sky threatened a storm that didn’t want to upset her performance. After a spectacular dance of “La Globo”, which got the audience to their feet, the young flamenco woman gave a great flamenco flourish of the art she has inside of herself to pay tribute to Lola Flores and transmit the joy of bulerías, tangos and to wind up with an encore of bolero in a flamenco vein, “Volver”, which was the icing on the cake just as the first drops of rain reminded us that nature needs water just as human beings need music.
