Special Report 54th Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas

Carmen Linares returned to La Unión with her show «Remembranzas», in which the singer takes us on a journey through her artistic career, accompanied on guitar by Salvador Gutiérrez and her son Eduardo Pacheco, the piano of Pablo Suárez and Rosario Villar and Ana María González on compás.  Dancer Javier Barón is guest artist.

It was a recital of two hours that began with tangos «La Luz que me Alumbraba» with the entire group, then moving on to tarantas and cartageneras, brilliantly backed-up by Salvador Gutiérrez.  The first part was completed with classic flamenco, tientos, soleá and cantiñas.  She put poetic verse to music with the piano of Pablo Suárez, her version of Lorca's «La Leyenda del Tiempo» was a tribute to Morente, «Mis Ojos en tus Ojos», «El Sol y la Rosa» of Miguel Hernández and «Moguer» of Juan Ramón Jiménez to fandangos.

Javier Barón, one of the best classic flamenco dancers, was the high point of the night with his cantiñas and bulerías, a pleasure to see him in this show.

The night continued with «Anda Jaleo» of Lorca, and some siguiriyas with encores by the entire group and the dancing of Javier Barón.  A long ovation was given to the grande-dame of flamenco by the audience of the Cante de las Minas.

After the recital, Carmen Linares unveiled her «Lámpara Minera» on the Avenida del Flamenco in La Unión, with the presence of a huge crowd.  This afternoon the singer will receive the «Castillete de Oro» at the Casa del Piñón.
