Within the parallel activities of the Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas de La Unión, a flamenco fashion show of Loli Vera’s creations was programmed deep inside the Agrupa Vicenta mine.  Only a privileged few were able to attend the show in these spectacular surroundings, and it was an unforgettable experience.  Here we present a collection of photographs from the mine, the star of the show, and of course, Loli Vera’s fashion show.

In the town of La Unión, the mine known as Agrupa Vicenta has been fitted out to receive visitors as part of the route known as “Minera del Camino del 33”, the old access miners once used to reach the mountain range.  The mine dates from 1864, and remained open until the middle of the twentieth century, extracting minerals such as pyrite which yields iron.  An area of over 2000 square feet is open to the public, down to a depth of 260 feet, huge galleries, extraordinary vaulted caverns, enormous pillars and even a subterranean lake with reddish water make up this unique place.

The fashions presented within the mine were from Loli Vera’s 2009 collection, with accessories by Eugenia Jiménez.  It’s not SIMOF, but no one will ever forget the experience.
