For the first time ever, an international flamenco festival will be held in the north of Morocco at the Hotel Andalucía Golf, September 5th to 7th. The festival has the support of the Spanish Embassy in Morocco, the Tangiers municipal government, the Spanish Consulate and the Instituto Andaluz de Flamenco.
At the press conference in Tangiers, a representative of the organization commented that “this festival aims to give the city the essence and tradition of Andalusian music as represented by flamenco is a diversity of manifestations”.
The festival opens with the show “Vaya con Dios” by the company of Antonio Andrade. This is a work with Indian and South American influences, always using flamenco as the essential base.
The festival also features Alberto López and Company, winner of the International Guitar Prize, and the Ballet Alma with dancer and designer José Galváñ and dancer Vanessa Ramírez among others.
The festival closes on Saturday, September 7th with guest artists Celia Flores, Jalal Chekara and Alejandro Estrada.
During the three days of the festival, the organization has scheduled parallel activities such as a sevillanas workshop with José Galváñ, and palmas and guitar workshops with Alejandro Estrada.
An exposition of flamenco dresses by the talented José Galváñ, as well as an exhibit of flamenco cajóns are also included.
