The twelfth edition of SIMOF will display the most recent developments in this highly specialized area of fashion, the only traditional line which is susceptible to new tendencies.
Once
again Seville will become the world focus for flamenco fashion with designers
such as Doble Erre, Fibes y el Salón Internacional de la Moda Flamenca.
(SIMOF). From February 2nd to 5th the FIBES convention center of Seville
will house the first trade fair corresponding to this secor, the main
showcase for the only traditional line of clothing which is susceptible
to trends and becomes infected with the latest fashion in streetwear.
Establshed designers such as Pilar Vera or Auroda Gaviño share
center stage with newcomers such as Vicky Martín Berrocal, the
popular TV personality, or Lina, the famed designer who is responsible
for the fashion look of internationally-known Spanish artists such as
Isabel Pantoja.
Classic and avant-garde will go hand in hand in this edition thanks to
the creative groundbreaking talent of designers like Córdoba’s
Juana Martín and Prêt à Porter, or the new source,
Pasarela Cibeles. This firm will exhibit the most forward-looking designs
within this particular specialty of flamenco known the world over.
Doble Erre, the promotional agency of fashion directed by Raquel Revuelta
will on this occasion have a powerful presence as they are not only producing
the event, but participating in it as well.
SIMOF includes the presence of star models of recognized prestige. This
edition includes Laura Sánchez and Helen Lindes, Miss Spain 2000,
and the regular presenter will again be model and TV personality María
José Suárez. As in other years, the fair will be a magnet
for personalities from the world of TV, music and theater, some of whom
who will dare to do a little modeling as well.
SIMOF will also provide a jumpstart for young talents of this specialty
by way of the prestigious Certamen de Diseñadores Noveles which
has yielded such creators as the above-mentioned Juana Martín or
Angeles Verano, giving them the opportunity to begin successful careers.
