Special mention was given to the Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco de Córdoba.
Guitarist and composer Francisco López-Cepero García, better-known as «Paco Cepero», last night received the Compás del Cante award from the Fundación Cruzcampo for this 28th edition of the prizes celebrated at the Real Alcázar of Seville after a gala dinner that was attended by numerous representatives from the world of flamenco, culture, business and politics.
The award was presented to a visibly moved Paco Cepero by Jorge Paradela, director of corporate relations for Heineken España, and Javier Landa, first vice-mayor of Seville. Julio Cuesta, president of the Fundación Cruzcampo, pointed out that the jury had unanimously decided to give the award to Cepero for his «more than half-century of artistic activity as composer and concert guitarist, as well as accompanying flamenco singing».
Special mention was also accorded to the Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco de Córdoba «for its extensive efforts in favor of the recognition, support and promotion of young newcomers in singing, guitar-playing and dance», as well as their «high standards and global vision of flamenco».
