On May 16th «Mujeres» goes on sale, Estrella Morente’s third recording
Nearly
five years we’ve had to wait to once again hear one of the greatest
and most important female voices of flamenco. Estrella Morente has a new
recording.
At 26 she has managed to sell more than 100,000 copies of each of her
earlier works, “Mi Cante y un Poema” and “Calle del
Aire”, shooting right to the highest peak of cante flamenco of all
time.
«Mujeres» is a tribute to women of today and yesterday through
thirteen new songs produced by Estrella's father, Enrique Morente. Estrella
demonstrates a wide range of sounds and styles including alegrías,
tangos, bulerías, soleá, tarantas as well as classic songs
like Susana Renaldi's «Nostalgia» and «Ne me Quitte Pas»
by Jaques Brel. The record honors women Estrella admires such as Chavela
Vargas, Rocío Jurado, Nina Simone, Imperio Argentina, Sunana Rinaldi,
La Repompa, Pastora Imperio, La Joya…
