The new flamenco generation. From August 2nd to September 2nd
The
Pradillo Theater, by way of La Otra Mirada del Flamenco, has been supporting
flamenco artists, both veteran and new, emerging companies and contemporary
high-risk projects for more than a decade. Many of these experimental
offerings have gone on to carve out their places and become truly fundamental
references for staged flamenco. The theater has contributed to the education
of audiences and the creation of a new theatrical aesthetic where modern
tendencies share the spotlight with flamenco’s deepest roots.
The Madrid and international audience always makes room on the calendar
to get to know the most avant-garde small format projects where the artistic
curiosity of creative flamenco artists takes shape with the collaboration
of specialists from the various related disciplines.
The series begins August 2nd with five weeks of the best and freshest
flamenco to be seen in Madrid, with shows Wednesday through Saturday inclusive,
at nine in the evening. This year’s edition includes new shows from
some of the artists who thrilled us the most last year with intelligent
programs and unprecedented interpretations. We share the pleasure of seeing
how a promising future becomes reality right before our eyes.
It’s the perfect chance to observe the birth of another generation
of flamenco and modern dance. The generation of Olga Pericet, Daniel Doña,
Manuel Liñán, Rocío Molina, Marco Flores…
