Jerónimo premieres his new project 'A lo Gitano Jazz'

DJANGO REINHARDT A LO FLAMENCO
Guitarist Jerónimo (Jerónimo Maya), along with his brother
Leo de Aurora, will perform their most recent work “A lo Gitano
Jazz”, with the romany-soaked music of Django Reinhardt, on January
26th and 27th at the Djangofestival Oslo, one of the best-known festivals
in honor of the maestro. The festival is to be held at the Cosmopolite
theater in Oslo, Norway, a temple of jazz and world music which has presented
musicians such as Gerry Mulligan, Diana Krall, Stephane Grapelli, Chick
Corea, Joe Zawinul, Bo Diddley, Maceo Parker, Jimmy Smith, Jimmy Cliff,
Angelique Kidjo and Cheb Khaled.

“A lo Gitano Jazz”, an impassioned interpretation of flamenco
guitar that approaches Manouche jazz, presents a unique gypsy swing-jazz-flamenco
sound which shows this guitarist’s intense interest in musical languages
other than flamenco, while still conserving the essence of his roots and
a shared way of lie. “A lo Gitano Jazz” will soon be released
in CD form in 2007.
