Flamenco Viene del Sur

Teatro Central (Seville) January 18th through May 17th, 2005

Once again this year Seville’s Teatro Central is the setting for the series «Flamenco Viene del Sur». The theater is committed to presenting the most contemporary flamenco offerings, and the program reflects this dication with young artists, some who’ve already made their names such as Arcángel or Miguel Poveda, as well as newcomers starting to make their mark, such as singer Guillermo Cano, dancer Rocío Molina or the winners from last year’s La Unión festival

Nor will dedicated veterans involved in the renovation and evolution of flamenco be missing. Lole Montoya has a faithful following three decades after the «Lole and Manuel» craze. Tomatito, the current prince of flamenco guitar, will offer his most recent work «Aguadulce». Noteworthy as well is Tomasito, flamenco’s most popular «rock star», and the no-nonsense dance of Javier Barón, both artists demonstrating the incredible variety of flamenco and the value of something well-done.
