COLOR Y RITMO.
J
oaquin Ruiz Flamenco Company with guest artist Inmaculada Ortega.
World-Premiere. Direct from Spain. Concert. 8pm

Breathtaking flamenco dance and music performance. Joaquin Ruiz and Inmaculada Ortega, two internationally acclaimed dancers with a distinguished career and a tremendous artistic scope, come together, to share their vision of flamenco in this mesmerizing show.   Inmaculada combines elegant feminity with a raw and elemental  flamenco style.  Joaquín, controlled and traditional in his dancing, but always setting trend with new tendencies. A powerful contrast, but a perfect match. Both dancers backed up by  award-winning composer and guitarist Arcadio Marin and the earth-splitting pain of flamenco's cante jondo (deep song) from Matias de Paula and David Vazquez . Monumental flamenco right here in Halifax.  One night only. Don’t miss it!

What critics have said about them: “A fantastic technique, unbelievable speed in his foot-tapping, tenth-of-a second spinning with incredible magic, Joaquín Ruiz is the best we have seen from Antonio Gades to Luisillo”…JERUSALEM POST
“Joaquin Ruiz is a name that everyone wants to know … the most sensational performance of flamenco dance ever seen in Adelaide (Australia)”THE ADVERTISER
“Inmaculada Ortega, her defiant dance, harmonious and filled with magic, a complete on-stage luxury.” ABC, SPAIN
“Inmaculada Ortega perhaps a ballerina or a bullfighter in another life. She had the audience absolutely eating out of her hand!. Her incredible agility and style was matched point for point with flawless compas and engaging facial expression for each mood” BOSTON, MA WORLD MUSIC
Where: REBECCA COHN AUDITORIUM, Dalhousie Arts Centre 6101 University Ave. Halifax (South End)
