In addition to cash prizes, this year the winner in each category (dance, cante and guitar) will have five performances in Córdoba.
The Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco is celebrating its twentieth edition. With more than 55 years of history, this prestigious event held every three years will make Córdoba the world capital of flamenco from November 11th to 30th. As in the previous edition heldin 2010, when the rules and format were overhauled, there will only be three prizes: one each for cante, dance and guitar, and inscription finalizes October 6th.
This edition also presents some changes. There are more prizes than ever: a first prize of 10,000 euros and second prize of 4,000, in addition to honorary diplomas and 2,000 euros for each of the finalists. And with the aim of promoting the winners in each category, an agreement has been reached with the Córdoba provincial government to arrange for 5 performances within the province for winners of the first prize.
The maximum age for participation has been lowered from 50 to 45. The minimum age continues to be 18. Each contestant must take responsibility for back-up musicians in each speciality.
