From January 15th to 23rd, 2016, the Festival Flamenco de Nimes, which each year opens the flamenco calendar, will celebrate its 26th edition.
Dance will be represented by the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía with their show “En la memoria del cante: 1922” – January 15th and 16th, under the artistic direction of Rafaela Carrasco and David Coria, with dancers Ana Morales and Hugo López. And on January 22nd, dancer Patricia Guerrero will present her show “Touché”, while Seville dancer Andrés Marín brings his “Carta Blanca” to the Théâtre Bernadette Lafont.
Regarding singing, always excellently represented in this Festival, Granada singer Gema Caballero will present her record “De paso en paso”, in addition to Extremadura singer Miguel de Tena, young José Ángel Carmona, David Lagos with his show “Made in Jerez” presented at the Festival de Jerez, and even Miguel Poveda who will offer his Recital de Cante. In the dance shows, singing will also be well-represented by singers such as José Valencia and Segundo Falcón –with Andrés Marín-, José Ángel Carmona with Patricia Guerrero and Antonio Campos and “El Pulga” with the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía.
Special mention for the show “Dinastía de la Casa de los Sordera” – Ortodoxia y Vanguardia which includes three Sorderas, Enrique Soto, Vicente Soto and José Soto “Sorderita” which debuts in this edition of the festival.
For flamenco guitar, Cañizares will present “Cuarteto Flamenco interpreta a Falla” with second guitarist Juan Carlos Gómez, and dancers Charo Espino and Ángel Muñoz. Guitarist Pepe Fernández will also give a guitar concert accompanied by the Makarines and Piraña.
As is the custom, the Festival has a full program of complementary activities including lectures by Raquel Cantero, Cristobal Ortega, Faustino Núñez, José María Velázquez-Gaztelu and José Manuel Gamboa, in addition to photo exhibits and film.
