If anyone still had doubts about the Catalonian love of flamenco and thought it was only the Andalusian immigrants who had any interest, once again the month of May brings two festivals back to back in Barcelona which are becoming more popular with each passing year.
The «Flamenco a Nou Barris» being held for the eleventh consecutive year, and «Flamenco a Nou Barris», now in it fifth edition, combine to fill six days in consecutive weeks with top of the line flamenco performances. The Nou Barris festival this year offers a bill of Catalonian flamenco artists who have well-established reputations in Spain and abroad: Mayte Martín, Miguel Poveda and Ginesa Ortega, while the Ciutat Vella festival has opted for Andalusian artists currently in the limelight such as dancers Juan de Juan and Israel Galván, and the multitalented Diego Carrasco. |
