On May 21st Farruquito returns to the capital of Catalonia with a show titled «Farruquito y familia» in which the group continues to offer the most traditional type of repertoire.
For
two weeks Barcelona’s Poliorama Theatre will be the venue for this
presentation which the dancer described as “an intimate show”
in a press conference held a few days ago in Barcelona.
The regular family members continue to make up the group, in addition
to guitarists Román Vicenti and El Perla, and singers Antonio Villar,
El Canastero, Encarnita Anillo and María Vizárraga.
Noteworthy is the return to the stage of la Farruca, Farruquito’s
mother, who gave up dancing when her husband died a few years ago. Starting
September she will once again be an active member of the group.
FARRUQUITO Y FAMILIA
“Farruquito
y familia” makes a point of authenticity offering a voyage through
the essence of flamenco’s most traditional forms. The passion and
fortitude of this family come together in a kind of flamenco without additives
of any sort, and which gets straight through to the spectator leaving
no one indifferent.
It is a free-form show with plenty of latitude for improvisation and
which creates a different kind of magic on stage…the kind that raises
goosebumps.
