Heiress to the artistic wealth of a family of major singers, guitarists and dancers, Esperanza Fernández is one of the main voices of flamenco. It’s no surprise she’s such a fine singer, with a vast repertoire that allows her to lend her talents to other musical aesthetics. Now she sings to Saramago, who work, she says, “long ago crossed the Portuguese frontier where he was born to become an expressive vehicle for the hopes and dreams of a large part of mankind”.
