Festival de Otoño de Granada. December 3-7
TEATRO ISABEL LA CATÓLICA. 9:30pm
Something
for everyone, all in just five days of scheduled shows at Granada’s
Festival de Otoño “Encuentros Flamencos 2004”
The first day brings the avant-garde approach anchored in tradition of
Diego Carrasco with his Jerez people. Second day, an original work by
Javier Latorre that puts dance to the now classic repertoire of “Triana”,
the pioneers of flamenco rock. For the third day, a cultural fusion featuring
the Orquesta Chekara de Tetuán and Granada flamenco artists, an
especially apt mixture for this city whose every nook and cranny is tinged
with Arabic culture. The dynamic racial dance of Juana Amaya occupies
the fourth day, with special guest artist, the very young and very spectacular
Nazaret Reyes, Juana’s daughter. For the festival’s final
day, two voices, those of Potito and Victor “El Charico” who
returned from the last La Unión festival with two important prizes,
and David Carmona on the guitar.
Rounding out the program, each day finishes with live recitals at the
Peña la Platería, Spain’s oldest flamenco club.
