At September’s Feria Mundial del
Flamenco the program of Jueves Flamenco of the Centro Cultural El Monte
de Sevilla was unveiled. Year after year this organization has presented
the best performers and works of the current flamenco scene. The new season
which kicks off on October 14th and continues with 21 concerts straight
through until May 19th of 2005 is a kind of miniature Bienal and nearly
all the participating artists have presented their respective shows at
said festival.
The
menu is varied: in guitar Paco Cepero is scheduled for October 21st, and
later on, Niño Josele, Niño Miguel and Diego de Morón.
In the dance department stars like Antonio Márquez, María
Pagés, Carmen Cortés, Manuela Carrasco, Javier Barón
and Israel Galván among many others will have the opportunity to
display their artistry to the Seville audience. In cante there’s
an interesting sampling of young hopefuls such as Nazareth Cala and José
Valencia, and old hands like Chocolate, Rancapino, Manuel Agujetas and
el Pele among others. Nor will pianist Dorantes from Lebrijano’s
family be missing. From Cádiz to Seville, Jerez, Lebrija…from
Córdoba to Jaén…Almería and Granada…Barcelona…the
whole flamenco territory is represented, and the “Sold Out”
sign is bound to go up week after week.
