On Wednesday, September 28th at nine P.M. David Peña Dorantes is presenting his latest show
«Hasta el andar» at the Lope de Vega theater in Seville.
This performance is the beginning
of a tour, and the music is part of Dorantes’ upcoming record set
to come out in the spring of 2006.
“Hasta el Andar” is a purely musical show where Dorantes
“genetic” flamenco is combined with a variety of musical universes.
The piano brings you into the compás and frees you of preconceptions,
never sidelining tradition such as the profound cante of Lebrija, Dorantes’
hometown. Bulerías, Tanguillos, Soleá, Guajira and Romances
set to percussion, wind instruments, strings, bass and cajón, all
interpreted by masters of these respective instruments, offer the observer
a wide range of emotions, from the most profound tragedy to the most light-hearted
joy.
Singer LOLE MONTOYA and dancer ROCÍO MOLINA take part in the presentation.
Also in the company are violinist FAIÇAL who recently recorded
with Juan Peña El Lebrijano, singer Rafael de Utrera, bass-player
Manuel Nieto, on sax, Rafael Garcés, Chelo and Gretchen Talbot,
Nano Peña’s drums and Tete Peña’s percussion.
In 1996 Dorantes was named “Best Newcomer” by critics and
flamenco fans for his recording “Orobroy”. By popular vote
at the twelfth Bienal de Sevilla, “Sur”, his second work was
named “Best Show”, “Best Original Music”, “Best
Soloist” and, as with Orobroy, the critics’ prize of 2003.
