Forty-eight years ago the Córdoba municipal government founded the Concurso Nacional de Cante Jondo, now known as the Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco de Córdoba, with the idea of supporting the most traditional sort of flamenco and recalling the earlier contest of 1922 that took place in Granada and which was organized by Manuel de Falla and Federico García Lorca among others.
