The Casa Patas Foundation is organizing a series of unamplified recitals of flamenco singing and guitar in a venue for 90 people.
Diehard followers of flamenco cante can now look forward to a series of concerts organized by the Fundación Casa Patas in collaboration with Antonio Benamargo, and scheduled throughout November and December on Fridays and Saturdays.
This non-profit organization, whose goal is the promotion and distribution of flamenco, specifically fixed up the Sala García Lorca in order to host traditional flamenco singing and guitar-playing, thus hoping to provide a permanent program of a sort that does not exist today in Madrid. Artists such as José de la Tomasa, La Macanita, Antonio Reyes, Jesús Méndez, Diego Clavel and Miguel Ochando are only a few of the scheduled performers.
The idea is to present these people in an intimate space in order to enjoy the essence of flamenco. Following the model of the old cafés cantantes, these recitals enjoy the best acoustic conditions, and employ no amplification whatsoever.
Through flamenco programmer Antonio Benamargo, the Fundación Casa Patas is launching this unique series with a variety of high-quality artists, and a total of thirteen recitals between November 8th and December 28th, on Friday and Saturday at 10:30pm at the Sala García Lorca of the Foundation, and tickets cost either 15 or 20 euros, depending on the program of the day.
