The performance is scheduled for October 13th at the National Auditorium, and has been organized by the Consejería de Educación Cultura y Deporte and the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical.
The series “Andalucía Flamenca” is opening the 2013/2014 season at Madrid’s National Auditorium with the recital of Carmen Linares, Mayte Martín and Rocío Márquez, three generations of female singers to represent the present and future of this genre. This event begun in 2009 aims to consolidate the presence of flamenco in Spain’s capital. Over the years many top flamenco stars have been featured.
These three women are a good samplibng of the art of flamenco. Veteran singer Carmen Linares has won numerous prizes over a career that spans more than 40 years. Catalonian Mayte Martín has been well-known since the late 1980’s and has also been honored on many occasions. Young singer Rocío Márquez has been singing since childhood, and in 2008 won the most important prizes at the Festival Internacional de Cante de las Minas de La Unión.
In addition to this special concert, El Torta will appear on October 25th, Niño Josele on November 15th, Argentina on December 20th, Duquende on January 31st, el Lebrijano on March 14th and Esperanza Fernández on April 4th in the Sala de Cámara.
