Argentina, new recording: 'Las minas de Egipto'

Singer Argentina goes to the «Minas de Egipto» to present her second record

Huelva singer Argentina (1984) has made a second album with the new label Luismi Producciones which she presents as a carefully constructed group effort, once again with producer José Quevedo “Bolita”, and executive producer Luis Miguel Baeza.  A tremendous responsibility for the artist who enjoyed great success with her first record “Argentina” (2006).

On this new work, there is a high level of artistic collaboration such as that of Cuban arranger José Mestre, guitarists José Quevedo “Bolita”, Eugenio Iglesias, Manuel Parrilla, Diego del Morao and José Luis Rodríguez, bass player José Manuel Posada “Popo”, percussionists Paquito González and José Carrasco, in addition to Bobote, Torombo, Los Mellis, Víctor Carrasco, Toñi Nogaredo, Anabel Rivera, Reyes Martín and Raúl Gálvez who pitched in with palmas and choruses.  The brass of David Pastor, Julio Montalvo and Jorge Roque, the Cuban tres of Dayan Abad, the drums of Jiorvis Pico, the violin of Gladys Silot and the cello of Miguel Rosell.

Lyrics and music are by high quality young talents with an exceptional creative level – Antonio Jaraqueño , Ricardo Rivera, Emilio Losada, Paco Cruzado and José Quevedo – as becomes immediately evident.  There are also verses taken from the body of popular flamenco verse.

This recording demonstrates the growth and consolidation of this singer as can be heard from the ten songs that make up the CD in which an effort was made to find different sounds and forms.  A record respectful of tradition as seen by the singer herself, but which also investigates current musical evolution in the quest for originality, never losing the fresh perspective.

The record includes tangos, bulerías, alegrías, rumba, nana, fandangos de Huelva, solea, malagueña and media granaína, with a single released as the rumba “Suspiros da el Alma” by Ricardo Rivera, a very rhythmic piece with the outstanding arrangements of José Mestre where we enjoy a taste of the real Argentina in her most natural state.
