El Choro debuted his show 'Aviso: Bayles de Jitanos' at the Sala Compañía within the program of the festival's twentieth edition. It is a production of the Cristina Heeren Foundation, with artistic director Rafael Estévez, in which the dancer delves into the musical repertoire and choreography adapted or created by the gypsy community since the 17th century.
The show included the collaboration of dancer Gema Moneo, singers Pepe de Pura, Moi de Morón and Jesús Corbacho, guitarists Jesús Guerrero and Juan Campallo and the percussion of Paco Vega.
The prize for Best Newcomer was founded in 2008 by Faustino Rodríguez, Jerez restaurateur with a long career, and Bar Juanito, the establishment he runs. Previous winners were Nani Paños and Rafael Estévez (Flamenco XXI-Compañía Dospormedio &Cia, 2008), Concha Jareño (Algo, 2009), Olga Pericet (Bailes alegres para personas tristes, 2010), Leonor Leal (eLe, eLe, 2011), Manuel Liñán (Tauro, 2012), Karime Amaya (‘Abolengo’ de Farruquito, 2013), Sara Calero (El Mirar de la Maja) and Alberto Sellés (Las campanas del olvido) shared in 2014 and Luisa Palicio (Sevilla, 2015).
