From June 4th to July 2nd, 2010 the Festival SUMA FLAMENCA will offer 33 shows in Madrid and another 10 locations throughout the Madrid community. Major stars such as Manolo Sanlúcar, Miguel Poveda, Enrique Morente, José Mercé and Israel Galván are the highlights of the program which also offers shows produced specifically for the festival like 'Grito' of Alfonso Losa and José Maya.
This edition of the festival has received the collaboration of the Bienal de Sevilla to bring the show “Bailes” of Pastora Galván, and with the Festival International de Cante de las Minas which this year is celebrating it’s 50th edition in Madrid with singer Miguel Poveda. The Canal Theaters will be the main venue of the festival. The Sala Roja de los Teatros will receive Manolo Sanlúcar (after 5 years without performing in Madrid), Israel Galván and Joaquín Grilo, and records such as “Las Minas de Egipto” by the young singer Argentina, as well as the latest work of Jerez singer José Mercé, “Ruido”, which after a year of presentations will finally be released in May. Enrique Morente will sing to Picasso on an exceptional stage, that of the Patio de Armas del Recinto Amurallado of Buitrago de Lozoya, in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Museum Picasso Collection Eugenio Arias of the Madrid Community. The concerts will be on June 15th at the Teatros Canal, Pablo de Málaga July 1st and 2nd in Buitrago de Lozoya. As in other years, the main plaza of Chinchón will be the setting for a flamenco concert, on this occasion, Gerardo Núñez accompanied by the dancing of Carmen Cortés, while in another plaza, Torrelaguna, Talegón de Córdoba will sing with young Sonia Miranda. Also as in previous years, the festival includes thye Semana Flamenca of Alcobendas with Capullo de Jerez, Juana la del Pipa and Mariana Cornejo who will offer an emotional tribute to Chano Lobato on June 7th. On Saturday the 8th, the 16th award of the Peña Chaquetón will be given to Tomasa Guerrero “Macanita” in a show that also includes José Menese. Other new festival venues will be in the most flamenco neighborhood of Madrid: Vallecas. Singers Raquel Villar, David Palomar, Jesús Corbacho and David Lagos will appear at the Pilar Miró Cultural Center and at the Paco Rabal Center Palomeras Bajas will present José Menese and dancer Belén López. The theater of the Institut Français features the concert Perfume Mudéjar of Axivil Aljamía (with Pedro Sanz) and a concert with Paco del Pozo on June 24th and 25th respectively. Lastly, one of the most celebrated series of the festival, La Música de los Espejos will once again bring together cante and poetry in four magical nights, from June 22nd to 24th at new venue: the terrace of the Águila complex of Madrid which will receive Argentina, Estrella Morente and María Toledo.
