The official program of the Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas has been presented at the flamenco tablao Corral de la Morería in Madrid.
The Festival is scheduled for August 2 to 17, and features artists such as Lole Montoya, Rocío Márquez, Argentina and the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía among others.
The executive president of the Fundación Cante de las Minas and mayor of La Unión, Pedro López Milan, accompanied by singer Lole Montoya and Juan Manuel del Rey, co-owner of the Corral de la Morería, presented the program of the 57th edition of the Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas at the Madrid tablao, closing with the performance of Antonia Contreras, winner of the 2016 Lámpara Minera, and Juan Ramón Caro.
This edition is dedicated to two artists from La Unión: artist and Festival promoter, Asensio Sáez, and singer Pencho Cros.
The Castillete de Oro is for the Principado de Asturias in recognition of their history of mining. Two areas that have profited from their mountain ranges and mining zones. The Festival has also chosen to distinguish Belgium with the “Catedral del Cante” prize for the country’s commitment to the promotion of flamenco.
With regard to the program, in double format, August 4th to 8th features Lole Montoya in addition to Juan Carmona, Rocío Márquez, Juan Pinilla, Paco Montalvo, Manuela Carrasco, Jesús Méndez, Argentina, Mayte Martín and the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía at the Antiguo Mercado Público.
