August 22, 23 and 24 of 2014 the Cante Festival of Las Minas will be held in Tokyo for the first time, with singing, guitar and dance contests plus the performance of the Las Minas Flamenco Tour.
The Festival del Cante de las Minas de La Unión is going to Japan the first time that the event will be held outside Spain.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Teatro Nakano Zero Hall in the Japanese capital next August 22th through 24th inclusive. Great expectation has been generated, with more than a hundred Japanese artists registered to compete. The main attraction, in addition to the corresponding trophies, is that the winners of the Japanese edition will automatically receive tickets to the following edition of the Festival del Cante de las Minas in Spain, scheduled for August, 2015.
At the closing of the event, dancer Lucía Álvarez “La Piñona”, winner of the Desplante prize in 2011 at the Festival del Cante de las Minas, will perform with her cuadro flamenco.
This information was announced in the press conference that took place at Corral de la Morería, the Madrid center of the Festival de La Unión, in the presence of the Japanese ambassador in Spain, Satoru Satoh, the special ambassador for the year of Spain-Japan, Eduardo Aznar, General Director of Marca España, Ignacio García-Valdecasas and the mayor of La Unión and president of the Cante de las Minas Foundation, Francisco Bernabé.
