THESE ARE THE BEST OF 2007
ACCORDING TO YOUR VOTES, THESE ARE THE WINNERS OF THE 2008 FLAMENCO SURVEY. 12,353 valid votes in the final phase of the poll picked the best of flamenco in 2007. Along with the 10,062 votes in the first phrase, that’s a total of 22,415 votes received from the readers of DeFlamenco.com throughout the world who were kind enough to take the trouble to vote. A total of some 2000 votes were ified for having come from duplicated addresses with the same IP.65% of the votes received came from the Spanish edition, and the rest from the English edition. Geographically, 45% of the votes were received from Spain, mostly from Madrid, followed by the provinces of Andalusia like Granada, Seville and Málaga. Other noteworthy countries were the United States, France, Mexico, Italy, Canada and Japan, although votes were received from a total of 46 different countries. The voters are readers of DeFlamenco.com who regularly follow the day-by-day activity of flamenco, and many of them are clients. We consider the majority of them of to be great lovers of flamenco, considering the difficulty and effort required to fill out the survey, especially in the first phase of open voting. Small voting “campaigns” were detected in some of the categories, but due to the volume of votes, we do not feel this skewed the results in any way. Not all the categories had the same number of votes, since many forms only contained votes in several categories leaving the rest blank as it was not obligatory to give an opinion in each specialty. The winners of the Pack “Aprende a Tocar el Cajón”, the “Enciclopedia de la A a la Z” and Don Flamenco shoes (Sergio González from Albacete, Victoria Maján from Oviedo and Concepción Betancort from Bogotá), as well the winners of the 30 T-shirts have been advised by email in order to send them their prizes. In early March we will celebrate the presentation of the prizes at a major Madrid venue. Watch the web for information about how to pick up the invitations.
