The art of Jesús Carmona returns to Barcelona with a proposal that promises to set the stage of the iconic Tablao Flamenco Cordobés on fire. The Catalan dancer and choreographer, considered one of the great exponents of contemporary flamenco, premieres “Senderos del Flamenco” from April 1 to 15, a work conceived to celebrate the 55th anniversary of this historic venue.
“Senderos del Flamenco” is a personal exploration by Carmona of the evolution of this art, from its most primitive forms to the most popular styles. In this new creation, the artist merges his technical mastery with an exceptional interpretative sensitivity, navigating between the traditional and the contemporary.
Experiencing Carmona in the intimacy of the tablao is a privilege. The dancer, winner of prestigious awards such as the National Dance Award, the Benois de la Danse, and two Max Awards, displays an overwhelming passion and virtuosity that has captivated stages such as the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Liceu in Barcelona, and Sadler’s Wells in London.
In this new show, Carmona will share the stage with young dancer Raquel Lara, a rising flamenco talent with a promising career. Alongside them, a first-rate lineup of musicians: singers Abraham Jiménez, Iván Carpio, Juanjo de Nayeli, and Luis “El Granaino,” and guitarists Juan Requena and Pau Vallet, who will add strength and emotion to every performance.
A story of commitment to Tablao Cordobés
For Carmona, the Tablao Flamenco Cordobés is not just a stage but an artistic home. Since the beginning of his career, he has performed in this space, maintaining a continuous relationship that strengthens his bond with the purest essence of flamenco. Now, on its 55th anniversary, he returns with a proposal that reaffirms his commitment to both tradition and the evolution of this discipline.
Founded in 1970, the Tablao Flamenco Cordobés has witnessed the performances of legends such as Camarón de la Isla, Farruco, and Tomatito, establishing itself as a benchmark for flamenco culture in Barcelona and worldwide.
With “Senderos del Flamenco,” Jesús Carmona invites the audience on an emotional and technical journey that promises to be a milestone in this year’s flamenco programming.
