From April 5 to May 10, the city of Geneva will become a hub of flamenco art thanks to Flamenco Nómada, a festival that blends the purest essence of the genre with its most innovative side. With a program packed with performances, exhibitions, and workshops, this event promises to immerse attendees in the cultural richness of flamenco from multiple perspectives.
One of the festival’s highlights will be the presence of Karime Amaya, a bailaora from a legendary flamenco lineage, who will bring her unique style to the stage while keeping tradition alive. Photography will also take center stage with an exhibition by renowned photographer Jean-Louis Duzert, who will give a talk on his experience capturing the visual power of flamenco.
Cinema will also be represented with the screening of an iconic film by Carlos Saura, a master of translating flamenco onto the big screen. Meanwhile, music will be a key element of the festival, featuring concerts by Antonio Serrano and Josemi Carmona, two leading figures in the fusion of jazz and flamenco, who will take audiences on an unforgettable sonic journey.
But Flamenco Nómada is not just a festival to watch and listen to—it is also an opportunity to learn. Attendees will have the chance to immerse themselves in the flamenco world with workshops on dance, guitar, percussion, and harmonica, led by top-tier artists.
The festival will take place in iconic cultural venues across Geneva, including L’ICAM – L’Olivier, Les Cinémas du Grütli, and L’eMa, reinforcing its commitment to bringing flamenco to new audiences and settings.
More than just an event, Flamenco Nómada is a love letter to flamenco and its ability to evolve without losing its essence. An unmissable event for flamenco and music lovers alike.
